Microsoft Build 2026 bets on agents with in-house MAI models and the Copilot SDK
At Build, Microsoft introduced in-house MAI models including MAI-Code-1-Flash for GitHub Copilot, a GitHub Copilot app in technical preview, and general availability of the Copilot SDK across several languages. It also announced Foundry Hosted Agents, a vendor-neutral Agent Control Specification for governance, and the always-on Scout agent for Microsoft 365. For developers on Azure and GitHub, it expanded first-party tooling for building and governing production agents.
